From Establishing INDIAdonates to Empowering Nonprofits across India for Sustainable Impact: INDIAdonates and GTP
September 22, 2025From Tasting GTP Programs to Rescuing GTP People: KPC and GTP
I grew up in Kathmandu as a second-generation Christian. My parents nurtured my faith from childhood, but I encountered God in class ten. When my mother faced heart trouble and multiple surgeries, I prayed and sensed that God would heal her. I saw God work powerfully, and that experience deepened my relationship with Him.
For many years, I have served with the youth and choir at Koinonia Patan Church (KPC). I married Dr. Janny Karmacharya 2.5 years ago, and we have a son named Juan, who is 18 months old. We live with my parents, aunt, and uncle while building our new home. I also serve as a Youth Member for the National Churches Fellowship of Nepal (NCFN).
Representing KPC, I sometimes attend global gatherings. In October 2023, I joined the World Evangelical Alliance Future of the Gospel Forum in Istanbul, Turkey. Among 261 people from 60 countries, I sat at the same table as Dr. Gary G. Hoag, GTP President & CEO, and learned more about GTP.

Ruthie Cristobal (GTP Chief Partnership & Operations Officer) and Gary invited me and Sher AC (NCFN General Secretary) to stay through the weekend in Istanbul to get a taste of GTP teaching and training programs. What a great experience we had! We met people from many countries and learned so much.
On the first day, Gary and Ruthie delivered biblical teaching on how stewardship and standards build trust and accountability to foster sustainable ministry. We loved their lessons from Ezra and Nehemiah in the Old Testament and the Apostle Paul in the New Testament.

On the second day, they walked us through a replicable training called Stations of Generosity. Sher and I said, “Please bring this to Nepal.” We had never seen a training like this. We promised to gather workers from all of Nepal’s seven provinces if they brought it.
Gary shared that GTP had hired Prakash Chandra Giri (GTP Curriculum Developer & Global Training Coordinator) and planned to form a Nepali team to maximize a future trip to Nepal. Sher and I expressed excitement, waited with patience, and prayed for GTP to come.

GTP Accountability Event in Kathmandu with 120 participants on 2 September 2025 with Ujjwal and Janny in attendance
In September 2025, GTP came and did the same two events that Sher and I tasted in Turkey but on a grand scale. They hosted accountability and generosity events in Kathmandu on 2–3 September and in Pokhara on 7–8 September. The response surpassed our expectations.
God’s workers from multiple networks across all seven provinces gathered and celebrated the timely GTP visit. We now plan to work with GTP to draft standards and promote peer accountability among churches and ministries in Nepal, aiming to cultivate thriving and sustainable ministries.

I never dreamed the impact that the events would have on my wife, Janny, and my family. In Stations of Generosity, we learned seven powerful truths through motions: 1) God owns everything. 2) God provides enough. 3) God gave generously. 4) We respond lovingly. 5) We hear God. 6) We find joy. 7) We store treasure.
After the training, Janny and I discussed how to apply these principles in our lives. We also planned to replicate the training in our church and with the youth we serve. However, we did not expect to have the opportunity to apply our learning so soon.

On 8 September 2025, protests over government corruption erupted in Nepal, leaving many killed and injured. This happened on the final day of the GTP trainings in Pokhara. The international GTP staff planned to travel home on 9 September, but God had other plans.
Flights for Gary from the USA and Emmna Pervaiz (GTP Global Program & Partnership Coordinator) from Pakistan got cancelled. Protesters approached the airport, and they had to leave immediately. While they mentioned many people gave them advice, we offered to rescue them.

At first, we searched for a hotel for them, but no rooms were available. Then, we looked for a car, as they each carried three bags, but no vehicles could pass the debris-filled streets. So, my sister, Elina, and I decided to load them and their bags onto our motorcycles.
We zigzagged through the city for 30 minutes, passing burning buildings and piles of debris at intersections. People even hurled bottles toward us. Miraculously, we reached home safely while the army took control of the city after the government collapsed.

My family hosted Gary and Emmna for two nights. When they expressed gratitude for our rescue, I loved my wife’s response. She thanked them for teaching her through Stations of Generosity and for giving us the privilege of practicing it by sharing our home with them.
We thank God for the abundant blessings we experienced while having them in our home. During the curfew that locked us inside together, we even joined a nationwide prayer time. We look forward to seeing the impact of accountability and generosity on our nation, our churches, and our communities.
