From Reckless Spending to Responsible Stewardship: CCT and GTP

Tuvsho Tsogtsugar – Mentoring young adults transitioning from the orphanage system
July 30, 2025North America July 2025 Field Report
The North America region includes Canada, Puerto Rico, the United States of America (USA), and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Two peer accountability groups (PAGs) accredit churches and ministries in the region: Canadian Centre for Christian Charities (CCCC) in Canada and Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) in the USA.
ECFA launched GTP as a separate legal entity to multiply faithful stewards and mobilize peer accountability groups worldwide. GTP is a registered charity in the state of Colorado, accredited by ECFA, and entering a transitional season – GTP 2.0 – to scale in response to the unanticipated global demand to strengthen more stewards and set up PAGs worldwide.
So, why post a peaceful picture of the Rocky Mountains as the header photo of this report? Psalm 121:1-2 matches our posture at CCCC, ECFA, or GTP. “I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” We trust God to empower us to help churches and ministries flourish.
CCCC (Canadian Centre for Christian Charities)
Like other ministries in Canada, CCCC takes shape as a charity doing God’s work. Their team of accountants, HR practitioners, and other specialists help run CCCC effectively while providing support to CCCC members.
CCCC operates to help congregations and institutions in Canada to handle the complexities of administering and governing ministry work so they can direct more energy and resources to their respective missions. Learn more about CCCC here.
ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability)
Since 1979, ECFA has accredited Christ-centered churches and ministries to Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship. With 2,800+ members reporting more than $32 billion in revenue, this accreditation enhances trust. Members see growth in financial giving and volunteer involvement.
Recently, ECFA added an eighth standard to make sure members attune to the wellness of senior servants. Learn more about it here. ECFA established GTP as a separate entity in December 2018 to serve workers around the world and continues to support GTP to this day!
GTP 2.0
GTP started with this vision, purpose, values, programs, and verse. Take a moment to read these guiding statements that have shaped the trajectory of our service which now touches 8,469 stewards in 147 countries and territories.
Vision: Faithful stewardship and peer accountability increasing local support for God’s work in every nation.
Purpose: In obedient service to Jesus Christ, GTP multiplies faithful stewards and mobilizes peer accountability groups to build trust and grow local generous giving to God’s work.
Values: Christian commitment, listening, humble service, global diversity, partnership, biblical teaching, empowerment, transparency, accountability standards, and sustained interdependence.
Programs: Teaching, Training, Teamwork, and Toolbox
Verse: “Guard what has been entrusted to your care.” (1 Timothy 6:20)
As we think about GTP, we want everyone to know we anticipate the same vision, the same purpose, the same values, the same programs, and the same verse to guide our efforts. We believe, however, we must scale, shift, strengthen, structure and steward differently to respond to growth.
- Same vision but scaling by identifying, empowering, and activating more volunteers.
- Same purpose but shifting more attention to the mobilization of PAGs.
- Same values but strengthening the vitality (orientation, mentoring, deployment) of staff
- Same programs but structuring to deliver them with many peoples while developing PAGs
- Same verse but stewarding our relationships and risks to manage the velocity of growth
GTP 2.0 calls for a different kind of President & CEO. While I (Dr. Gary G. Hoag) have used my apostolic and prophetic gifts to guide GTP in our first seven years, my successor needs to manage teams and map processes and systems. Imagine this person building roads where I have cut paths.
While I cannot announce details of this transition until the board has formally appointed my successor in October 2025, I can say that this move comes with prayer and preparation. Look for me (Dr. Gary G. Hoag) to continue to use my gifts as Founder after that time. Stay tuned for more details.
Prayer
The need for prayer represents the common thread that currently links CCCC, ECFA, and GTP together. CCCC, ECFA, and GTP work both in North America and worldwide to help tens of thousands of stewards administrate churches and ministries faithfully and govern them diligently.
This work happens with great opposition. The spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms do not want us to succeed. Often changing laws and regulatory matters further complicate our work. But we press on, lifting up our eyes to the mountains and proclaiming that our help comes from the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth.
