The pyramids of Egypt remind us that lasting impact links to having a solid foundation. The longevity of these structures illustrates the work of GTP in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. We aim to help churches and ministries follow standards for sustainability.
Recent changes in government restrictions have opened a vital door in Egypt, a country which serves as the gateway to the region. This new freedom provides an opportunity to expand GTP programs both within the country and across the wider MENA region.
The MENA region includes 18 countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, State of Palestine, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
People
God continues to grow the GTP team in MENA. Ereny Monir (Egypt) serves as GTP Chief Training & Empowerment Officer, Christine Samuel Soliman (Egypt) functions as GTP Regional Facilitator, and Andrew Youssef (Egypt) serves as the newest GTP board member.
Andrew Mahfouz (Egypt) and Daoud Kuttab (Jordan and Palestine) serve as Country Coordinators. Maybel Vallado (UAE) volunteers as a Course Moderator, and Silvia Ayoub (Egypt) assists as a networker with churches, seminaries, and vulnerable communities.
Peer Accountability
In 2018, GTP collaborated with church and ministry workers to launch NABLA as the peer accountability group (PAG) for Egypt. NABLA advances financial discipleship, local fundraising, and accountability standards in a region where these topics appear as foreign.
In 2020, GTP also encouraged the activation of the Jordan River Evangelical Transparency Association to strengthen stewardship and governance in Jordan and Palestine. Recently the Evangelical Churches Alliance of Qatar (ECAQ) has expressed interest in forming a PAG.
Programs
In 2025, GTP facilitated two sessions on stewardship and governance at the MENA IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) conference. There, a common concern surfaced: many churches struggle to retain young adults, particularly those aged 22 to 34.
Our team finds that this age group finds little space for dialogue or support. Without focused investment, they may drift away. GTP program work in the region focuses on them, knowing their growth will shape the vitality of churches for decades to come.
Progress
At GTP, we believe prayer represents our most important work. We celebrate commitment in this area. Workers in MENA attend Africa Monthly Prayer Hour and regularly ask for prayer regarding geopolitical unrest and economic instability in their countries
We give thanks that the GTP Diagnostic Tool and Templates have been translated and contextualized into Arabic. Looking ahead, we plan to translate the three ECFA books: The Choice, The Sower, and The Council to shape the thinking and practice of stewards.
Prayer Points
Pray for peace across the MENA region and for resilience among Christian workers serving on the ground. May their example reflect the endurance of the pyramids.
Ask God to expand the Arabic team to multiply faithful stewards and help ministries follow standards. Also lift up the ongoing translation work. Pray for timely completion and wide distribution.
Lastly, pray for provision to deploy more workers through open doors, and for collaborators with whom GTP can work to extend the reach of the gospel of Jesus Christ in this region.
