From Scarcity in a Settlement to Stewardship That Spreads Generosity
Born in Burundi, I arrived in Uganda as a refugee, carrying nothing but hope and determination. Life was extremely difficult. I worked relentlessly to survive, taking any task available from construction to digging toilets. Volunteer work brought little income, often only 100,000 to 150,000 shillings. Like many refugee families, I depended on ministries for meals and struggled to afford clothing and education.
Despite these hardships, I remained faithful to God’s calling. Though my English proficiency was limited, I pursued local training, earned certificates, and practiced daily. My fluency and confidence followed. By God’s grace, my perseverance bore fruit.
Since 2018, I have lived in the Kyaka II refugee settlement in Uganda’s Kyegegwa District. I serve as a pastor with the Church of Evangelism Ministry in Africa and the World while working to support my wife, Maombi Divine, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and our three young children.

I discovered Global Trust Partners (GTP) through social media while searching for teaching that could strengthen ministry practice. Their mission resonated deeply with me. After exploring the GTP website, I applied to serve as a Country Coordinator. GTP appointed me to represent Burundi in anticipation of my return, yet God has kept me in Uganda, where ministry continues to grow.
In 2025, I joined The Council course, which reshaped how I guide ministry decisions. Before the training, meetings with church committee members, many older and more experienced than I, often drifted into opinion-driven conversations marked by disagreement and poor focus.
The course equipped me to facilitate gatherings that remain practical and deeply spiritual. I now open meetings with Scripture, invite every voice, and ground decisions in the Word of God. This Spirit-directed rhythm replaced tension with unity and clarity.

That same year, I attended the GTP Regional Event in Uganda. Through Journey of Empowerment (JOE) and Stations of Generosity, I gained a biblical vision for stewardship. Living in a refugee settlement, I had long struggled with the idea of fundraising. I often asked, “How can I invite generosity from people who have so little?”
Learning about Palmful of Maize in Malawi changed everything. If someone has food for one day, that person holds something to give. I shared this vision with our congregation, and generosity flourished. Members joyfully shared trousers, belts, and small possessions with one another. One woman, who appeared to have nothing, brought a gift that reminded me of the widow who offered her best to Jesus. Her act strengthened my faith deeply.

The joy of giving became contagious. During the 2025 end-of-year festivals, offerings increased nearly tenfold compared to the previous month. I often remind the congregation, “When everybody shares, the church grows.”
On Christmas Day, more than 20 people joined the church simply because they felt genuine love within the community. To this day, new faces arrive every Sunday, and we pray for resources to expand our sanctuary.
Over the years, I have grown in confidence and vision. This journey has taught me to create intentional space where every person matters, because God has prepared something greater for each one.

I share my testimony wherever I go and encourage others to take GTP courses and experience transformation firsthand. My message remains simple: “You don’t know the goodness of something until you try it.”
Today, I serve as GTP Church Ambassador in Uganda. This responsibility allows me to look beyond my own settlement and invest in the wider body of Christ. I call churches and ministry workers across the nation to embrace biblical stewardship and Spirit-directed practice. My passion burns to see generosity and accountability take root in every congregation, multiplying hope far beyond the refugee camp where my journey began.

De la escasez en un campo de refugiados a una mayordomía que multiplica la generosidad
Nacido en Burundi, llegué a Uganda como refugiado, sin nada más que esperanza y determinación. La vida era extremadamente difícil. Trabajaba incansablemente para sobrevivir, realizando cualquier tarea disponible, desde construcción hasta excavar letrinas. El trabajo voluntario generaba pocos ingresos, a menudo solo entre 100,000 y 150,000 chelines. Como muchas familias refugiadas, dependía de ministerios para las comidas, y luchaba por costear la ropa y la educación.
A pesar de estas dificultades, permanecí fiel al llamado de Dios. Aunque mi dominio del inglés era limitado, busqué formación local, obtuve certificados, y practiqué diariamente. Con el tiempo llegaron la fluidez y la confianza. Por la gracia de Dios, mi perseverancia dio fruto.
Desde 2018, vivo en el campo de refugiados de Kyaka II, en el distrito de Kyegegwa, Uganda. Sirvo como pastor en el Ministerio de Evangelismo de la Iglesia en África y el Mundo, mientras trabajo para sostener a mi esposa, Maombi Divine, de la República Democrática del Congo, y a nuestros tres hijos pequeños.

Descubrí Global Trust Partners (GTP) a través de las redes sociales mientras buscaba enseñanza que pudiera fortalecer mi ministerio. La misión de GTP resonó profundamente conmigo. Después de explorar el sitio web, me postulé para servir como Coordinador de País. GTP me designó para representar a Burundi en anticipación de mi regreso, pero Dios me ha mantenido en Uganda, donde el ministerio continúa creciendo.
En 2025, participé en el curso El Consejo, el cual transformó la manera en que guío las decisiones del ministerio. Antes del curso, las reuniones con los miembros del comité de la iglesia, muchos mayores y con más experiencia que yo, a menudo se desviaban hacia conversaciones basadas en opiniones, marcadas por desacuerdos y falta de enfoque.
El curso me capacitó para facilitar encuentros que son prácticos y profundamente espirituales. Ahora inicio las reuniones con las Escrituras, invito a cada voz, y fundamento las decisiones en la Palabra de Dios. Este ritmo guiado por el Espíritu reemplazó la tensión con unidad y claridad.

Ese mismo año, asistí al evento regional de GTP en Uganda. A través de Viaje de Empoderamiento (VDE) y Estaciones de la Generosidad, adquirí una visión bíblica de la mayordomía. Viviendo en un campo de refugiados, durante mucho tiempo luché con la idea de recaudar fondos. A menudo me preguntaba: “¿Cómo puedo invitar a la generosidad de personas que tienen tan poco?”
Aprender sobre Puñado de Maíz en Malawi lo cambió todo. Si alguien tiene comida para un día, esa persona tiene algo que dar. Compartí esta visión con nuestra congregación y la generosidad floreció. Los miembros comenzaron a compartir con alegría pantalones, cinturones, y pequeñas posesiones entre sí. Una mujer, que parecía no tener nada, trajo una ofrenda que me recordó a la viuda que ofreció lo mejor que tenía a Jesús. Su acto fortaleció profundamente mi fe.

La alegría de dar se volvió contagiosa. Durante las celebraciones de fin de año 2025, las ofrendas aumentaron casi diez veces en comparación con el mes anterior. A menudo recuerdo a la congregación: “Cuando todos comparten, la iglesia crece”.
El día de Navidad, más de 20 personas se unieron a la iglesia simplemente porque sintieron un amor genuino dentro de la comunidad. Hasta el día de hoy, nuevas personas llegan cada domingo, y oramos por recursos para ampliar nuestro santuario.
Con los años, he crecido en confianza y visión. Este camino me ha enseñado a crear espacios intencionales donde cada persona importa, porque Dios ha preparado algo más grande para cada uno de nosotros.

Comparto mi testimonio dondequiera que voy y animo a otros a tomar los cursos de GTP y experimentar la transformación de primera mano. Mi mensaje sigue siendo sencillo: “No conoces la bondad de algo hasta que lo pruebas”.
Hoy sirvo como Embajador de Iglesias de GTP en Uganda. Esta responsabilidad me permite mirar más allá de mi campo de refugiados e invertir en el cuerpo de Cristo en general. Hago un llamado a iglesias y trabajadores del ministerio en todo el país a abrazar la mayordomía bíblica y la práctica guiada por el Espíritu. Mi pasión arde por ver la generosidad y la responsabilidad echar raíces en cada congregación, multiplicando la esperanza mucho más allá del campo de refugiados donde comenzó mi camino.
