Joycia Thorat
Joycia worked with Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action India for the past 24 years. She is a member of the Ecumenical Diakonia Reference Group of the World Council of Churches. She was the Chair of the Act Alliance Capacity Development Initiative, Advocacy Advisory Group, and Gender Community of Practice.
As an ecumenical activist, she has been actively engaged with the development of marginalized communities and women at the grassroots level and has advocated at the UN and other international forums. She was a post-post-doctoral fellow with UKZN South Africa in 2023. Her doctoral thesis was on ecumenical leadership entitled, "Gender Differences, Leadership Style and Contribution to Social Justice: A Global Study of Ecumenical Leaders."
She has edited a book and published many articles. Joycia is deeply passionate about just peace which Jesus Christ promoted and integrity, inclusivity, and innovation in building God's kingdom.
Joycia facilitates GTP efforts in the following 8 countries in the South Asia region: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
