Martha Das – Engaging a national alliance to empower the next generation
April 25, 2025Southeast Asia April 2025 Field Report
Island hopping is a common activity in Southeast Asia. You climb into a boat, take a seat, and enjoy the ride. In minutes, you see new islands and clear water while meeting some of the friendliest people on earth.
The Southeast Asia region includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Anjji Gabriel has served as GTP Regional Facilitator since GTP launched in 2019.
For this field report, we’ll take you for a quick ride as we hop to three sets of islands to share some of the good things happening right now. We’ll also invite you to pray for the needs of the region.
Indonesia
Praise God for the progress of ICCSA (Indonesian Council for Christian Stewardship and Accountability). Visit their website to see their standards and celebrate their growth, now with 14 registered members and counting.
Thank God for the service of Handoko Ngadiman (Chair), Veronica Colondam (Vice Chair), Manish Gidwani (Treasurer), Tony Budidjaja (Legal Advisor), and Paulina Cendranita (Senior Manager).
ICCSA recently raised more than $10,000 in local funds and received a $10,000 matching grant from GTP. With these funds, ICCSA will publish the ECFA Press books The Choice, The Sower, and The Council in Bahasa Indonesia.
Pray that these books will help Christian institutions in Indonesia build capacity by increasing awareness and knowledge of faithful administration, generous stewardship, and biblical governance.
Malaysia
It’s official! The GTP Global Gathering 2025 will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Praise God that Jon Devadas, GTP Country Coordinator for Malaysia, has generously offered to help host this annual event.
Last year, GTP welcomed 60 board members, staff, regional facilitators, country coordinators, course moderators, family members, and other volunteers from 28 countries. This year, we anticipate more than 100 will attend.
GTP just signed a contract with DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Pray for the preparations and for each invited participant to rally senders. GTP asks each participant to build a prayer and support team of at least 12 people.
This helps cover the cost of convening. More importantly, it builds country teams to “work together for the truth” in spreading GTP resources and strengthening churches and ministries across nations (3 John 8).
Philippines
GTP has deep roots in the Philippines, with two enthusiastic board members, Gina Detera and Zenet Maramara, a regional facilitator, Anjji Gabriel, and an active country coordinator, Conrado Roxas.
This team, along with a host of trained trainers, loves to collaborate and replicate the Journey of Empowerment to multiply faithful stewards who follow standards. Pray for them as they aim to stir an accountability movement.
Anjji Gabriel also serves as the founding director of CCTA (Christian Council for Transparency and Accountability). As a retired accountant, he helped form this group. Pray with him for God to raise up a successor.
Visit the CCTA website to learn more. Also, check out the Christian Stewards website. GTP partners with Christian Stewards to train and multiply faithful and generous givers to increase local giving in the Philippines.
GTP helps serve as a fiscal sponsor to Christian Stewards, not to create unhealthy external dependency but to facilitate the capacity building of this national ministry. Pray for the generosity movement to grow as well.
Prayer Points
Right now, GTP has country coordinators in Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand. Pray for them as they build country teams and work together to multiply stewards, grow generosity, and help churches and ministries follow standards to strengthen accountability.
Also, pray for the countries with no country coordinator yet: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam. Pray for God’s blessing on ICCSA (Indonesia) and CCTA (Philippines), and for peer accountability groups (PAGs) to form in other countries across the region.
