From Serving as a Management Consultant to Strengthening Nonprofits with Standards and Service
March 28, 2025English, Portuguese, and Spanish Africa (EPSA) March 2025 Field Report
A goat represents abundance and adaptability in Africa. By abundance, they reproduce quickly and supply milk and meat for the people. A goat has great value. By adaptability, goats have the resilience and ability to thrive in various environments, even harsh ones. The people of Mzimba, Malawi, gave this goat to GTP in October 2022, in gratitude for bringing the vision of Palmful of Maize (POM) to them. The POM vision calls people to “give God what you have.” They had a goat, so they shared it. To learn about POM, click here.
The goat provides a great word picture for the EPSA March 2025 Field Report. EPSA includes these countries: Angola, Botswana, Cape Verde, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Republic of South Sudan, São Tomé & Príncipe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Here’s a fresh field report from EPSA.
Abundance
God hears our prayers for EPSA. We celebrate three news items this month. First, God has raised up a key worker to serve the people of the region. Meet Anita Mulwana of Kampala, Uganda. She just started working with GTP as Global Trainer and English Programs Manager. She took a GTP on demand course, then another one, then started volunteering as a course moderator, and eventually joined the staff. Listen to her on the GTP podcast episode #36: “Rethinking stewardship by integrating faith and finances.”
Second, AfCAA (African Council for Accreditation and Accountability) recently featured GTP in their 2024 Annual Report, saying, “Thanks to our partnership with GTP, we were invited to participate in the Monthly Global Prayer Hour and the Africa Prayer Hour. This opportunity allowed us to hear the needs of different countries, pray for them, and receive prayers in return. They also provided us with access to their digital tools and resources, which enhanced our work and benefited our website visitors and members.”
Third, Chris Maphosa (GTP Regional Facilitator for EPSA) gives thanks for the receptivity of the stewards in his region to GTP courses. Not only do they register, but they demonstrate so much receptivity that GTP enlists them to serve as course moderators for future on demand cohorts. Praise God with us for providing an abundance of servants from all across EPSA interested in receiving and sharing these helpful courses. Register for an upcoming cohort to meet them.
Adaptability
GTP also notices the adaptability in Africa. Three current examples illustrate this. First, AfCAA represents the only peer accountability group actively accrediting Christ-centered churches, ministries, and businesses for following standards in multiple countries. That’s adaptability! At present, they have members in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Praise God with us for this reach and impact, changing the story of ministry administration and governance from corruption to credibility.
Second, AfCAA recently shared a list of ways that GTP could help them strengthen capacity beyond providing coaching, referring potential members, and engaging other ongoing efforts. On the list, they requested $13,500 to print four ECFA Press books (The Choice, The Sower, The Council, and Trust). Just this month, God supplied those funds to GTP. Soon, AfCAA will print the books to make the biblical and practical thinking available to English readers. The book sales of this project will generate revenue for operations and for printing more books.
Third, rolling out the POM vision across Malawi taught us many things at GTP. Recently, God has raised up a steward who wants to collaborate with GTP to take the key learnings from POM and adapt the vision to engage the coffee growers of Colombia in Christian mission. Mindset change sits at the heart of the POM vision and contributes to transformation in the hardest settings. When we shift our thinking from what we cannot do with what we do not have to giving God what we have, He can do anything. Praise God with us for the adaptability of this vision.
Prayer Points
Please take time to pray for God’s blessing on Anita and Chris as they serve in EPSA. Pray for AfCAA to continue to accredit more members and foster flourishing in more African nations. Pray for the POM vision to maintain momentum in Malawi and adapt and spread to other parts of the world. Praise God for providing funds for AfCAA to print books, generate revenue, and sharpen the thinking and practice of Christian workers. And pray for God to continue to hear our prayers and do exceedingly abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine in this region for His glory.
